Suicidally Stupid

If you had a nuclear bomb next door to you with a ticking timer on it and a bunch of big burly guys in Nazi uniforms standing around to prevent you defusing it, you would do what was necessary to defuse the bomb, or make extreme efforts to get far enough away to survive the blast. Denying the reality would be stupid and/or suicidal.

Our planet is facing the same problem in the form of global warming. We can’t run - we are stuck on this planet - so that leaves defusing the bomb as our only choice. We have ways of fighting the problem, but there are a bunch of rich (suicidal) idiots and their puppets in government standing between us and defusing the bomb, and we are watching the timer tick.

Why are we not forcing those that have the power to defuse the bomb? Are we suicidal, stupid, or both?
